Background

My research laboratory has two primary areas of focus: 1) designing new macromolecules with molecular-level precision using protein engineering techniques, and 2) engineering biomimetic niches that mimic the micro- and nano-scale order found in nature. Projects in the laboratory include both fundamental studies (e.g., biopolymer self-assembly, cell-material interactions, and cellular chemotaxis) as well as applied studies in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine approaches for cardiovascular and neurological injuries and diseases.
