A panel of automotive technology professionals from the Society of Automotive Engineering selected Solutia to showcase the automotive glazing technologies at the “Innovators Only” exhibition in the Society of Automotive Engineering (SAE) World Congress of 2012, held from 24 to 26 April 2012 in Detroit.
Solutia exhibited advanced XIR reflective film products and acoustic polyvinyl butyral (PVB) interlayers from Saflex Q series and advanced solar absorbing (PVB) interlayers from Saflex S series. Visitors together with academic students, automotive engineers, corporate executives and technologists participated in the demonstration of a new solar heat reduction, which showcased the advantages of new XIR reflective films and Saflex S series’ solar absorbing interlayers.
While driving, the air conditioning (A/C) system in vehicles consumes low power in order to maintain a preferred temperature in cabin. Hence, automotive designers prefer to employ lighter and smaller A/C systems, which can also save power in electric vehicles so that the driving range can be increased.
The acoustic interlayers from Saflex Q series may reduce weight of the windscreen when used in automotive glazing applications. Noise inside the vehicle can be decreased with the help of laminated glass, which is created using an advanced acoustic interlayer from Saflex Q series. The road and wind noise for up to 3 dB can be decreased using Saflex advanced acoustical interlayer, when compared to an ordinary windscreen.
汽车夹层玻璃于一体的Saflex S and Q series technologies and XIR film products, are drop-in interlayer solutions. These solutions can offer fuel efficiency, enhanced comfort in cabins and reduction in carbon dioxide emission in most of the internal combustion (ICE) vehicles. The interlayer products from Solutia can be utilized in automotive glazing applications that integrate the back lites, sunroof, windscreen and side laminate applications.
